From the library page go to featured sites, go to Economics Resources (Including Stock Market).  Go to CNN Money website for your initial search.  Each team member is to research at least two of the companies below.

 

  1. Next to the “Quote” at the top of the page is a link to “symbol look up”  Attempt to find the ticker symbols for the following companies.  Do not give up until you find the ticker.
    1. Nike
    2. Nokia
    3. Yahoo
    4. Google
    5. Amgen
    6. Home Depot
    7. Lowes
    8. Qualcomm
    9. Conoco Phillips
    10. Bank of America

  1. Below the graph is the option to see the performance of your stock over various periods of time.  Check the past month, 3 months, 6 months, and year.
    1. Do you see any trends?  Up/down
    2. What do you think of the prospects of this stock for the next 10 weeks?

  1. To the left of the graph is a table.  What is the 52 week high?  What is the 52 week low?  How close is the current price to either of these other prices? 

 

  1. Below the table are news stories for this company.  Read one story of interest from the news.  Read one story from analysis. Read one from any of the categories.
    1. Which story(s) help you in analyzing the health of this company?
    2. What information is beneficial for deciding whether to buy stock in this company?
    3. Is this a good company to buy stock in for the 10 week period of our contest?  Is this a good company to buy stock in for a long period of time?  Explain your answers.
