Debate

Overview

You will be assigned an issue for the 2004 election in Colorado.  You and your team of four will be responsible for researching both positions on the issue.  Your job will be to defend to the best of your team’s ability that issue.

Tasks

Each team member will earn up to 50 points for completing the following jobs:

U            Speaker : Responsible for explaining the pro side to the argument.  Working with Researcher 1, you will write the opening statement.

U            Researcher 1: Working with the speaker, you will prepare your speaker for the debate on the pro side of the argument.

U            Researcher 2: Responsible for the negative side to the argument.  Working with Researcher 3, you will write the closing statement

U            Researcher 3: Working with Researcher 2, you will prepare your speaker for the debate on the negative side of the argument.

Debate

You will use the debate format on a separate page as a guide. Each team earns up 25 points in the debate.  The team that wins by plurality of viewers will earn 10 extra credit points.
